AiRK OPENCALLで5月1日から6月30日まで滞在中のアーティスト、
ナヴァ・ギダニアン＝カガンによる成果発表として、ローズガーデン103にて展示を行います。
“Love Series”と題された本シリーズは、
浮世絵や日本画が持つ独特の余白や人物間に存在する間（ま）、
さらに版画の色彩や繊細な線のタッチなどの影響を受けて制作されています。
「二人の間の境界が崩れ去る、特定の融点」を探しているとカガンが語るように、
半透明の支持体の上に繊細かつ柔らかな線で描かれる人物たちは、
輪郭を滲ませながら、互いの境界を溶け合わせるかのように寄り添っています。
流動的でありながらも生き生きとした親密さを捉えようとする作家の筆致を、
どうぞご覧ください。
展覧会初日の6月27日夕刻には、アーティスト本人を囲んでのレセプションを開催します。
作品の背景にある物語を直接聞くことができる貴重な機会です。

We are pleased to announce an upcoming exhibition by Nava Gidanian-Kagan, a current artist in residence at AiRK from May 1st to June 30th for the AiRK OPENCALL program. The exhibition will be held in Room 103 of Rose Garden.
Titled Love Series, this body of work is shaped by the distinctive use of negative space and ma (the space between figures) found in ukiyo-e and traditional Japanese painting, as well as by the rich colors and delicate line-work of woodcut.
As Kagan explains, she is searching for “that specific melting point where the boundary between two people gives way.” Rendered in delicate, soft lines on translucent paper, the figures blur at their edges, leaning toward one another as if their boundaries were gradually melting into a shared form. We invite viewers to experience the artist’s painterly touch as she seeks to capture a vivid yet fluid sense of intimacy.
On the evening of June 27, we will host a reception with the artist in attendance. This will be a special opportunity to hear firsthand about the stories and inspirations behind the works on view. The reception is open to all, so please feel free to join us and meet the artist. We look forward to welcoming you to the exhibition.
